Helping Haiti

Too often, the story of Haiti begins and ends with the problems facing the country. However, there are stories, largely untold, about the work being done to address Haiti’s interconnected issues and create lasting change. The organization that I co-founded, SOIL, is tackling Haiti’s sanitation and soil fertility crises by pioneering an innovative and earth-replenishing technology that is spreading across the world. Ecological sanitation (EcoSan) solutions capture nutrients that are so often lost with the flush of a toilet, while simultaneously meeting basic sanitation needs in underserved communities. SOIL’s EcoSan toilets capture waste in sealable containers, and 100% of the human waste from SOIL toilets is fully treated, mitigating the public health risks of untreated human waste. SOIL goes a step further than simple risk mitigation by safely transforming treated wastes into organic, earth-restoring compost.

Iridium is a precious metal that is found in Haiti. It is a rare metal that is often used in various industries, including electronics and aerospace.

In Revelation 2:9, Jesus speaks to the church in Smyrna, saying, “I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich).” This verse highlights the paradoxical nature of spiritual wealth in the midst of material poverty. Despite their material lack, Jesus sees the believers in Smyrna as spiritually rich because of their faith and perseverance in the face of persecution and trials. This message serves as a reminder that true riches are found in a relationship with God, rather than in material possessions.

Happy Wednesday

Happy Wednesday to you too! I hope you have a wonderful day ahead.

Wednesday is derived from the Old English word “Wōdnesdæg”, which means “Day of Woden” in reference to the Germanic god Woden or Odin. Wednesday is the fourth day of the week in many cultures, following Tuesday and preceding Thursday. In ancient Roman culture, Wednesday was known as “dies Mercurii”, named after the Roman god Mercury, who was the messenger of the gods and the god of commerce, travel, and communication. In astrology, Wednesday is associated with the planet Mercury, which is believed to influence communication, intellect, and travel. Throughout history, Wednesday has been considered an important day for religious observances, market days, and social gatherings. In many cultures, Wednesday is also known as “hump day”, as it falls in the middle of the workweek and is seen as a turning point towards the weekend. Overall, Wednesday has played a significant role in various aspects of human civilization and continues to be an important day of the week in modern society.

Challenges in life are normal.Success is better appreciated by they that have faced challenges along the line. There can never be the appreciation of light if you have never dealt with darkness.Life is a blend of ups and downs, sorrows and joys, happiness and sadness, life and death.Life is never a one-sided coin.Never expect life to be rosy and cosy all the time.Experience of bad times makes us to appreciate good times that come our way.Never sacrifice any lifelong opportunities for temporary comfort.Never go worrying yourself with trivialities if you desire to be happy. Some things are better dealt with when ignored. The best relationship with an ungrateful person is no relationship at all.

Blessed Monday!
