The Gods Are Crazy

Abdulai Rahaman:
Joe, another phone dead. Screen went black like it saw a ghost. These things arrive shiny as miracles, then break like promises. What kind of magic is this?

G.I. Joe:
(laughs, tired)
American magic, brother. The gods over there are restless. They don’t want devotion — they want a repeat sale. Planned obsolescence is their sacrament.

Abdulai:
So the gods send gifts that don’t last?

G.I. Joe:
Exactly. They rain phones from the sky and call it progress. But the wiring’s cursed. The software forgets you. The battery gives up the ghost. It’s a cargo cult messiah — arrives looking like salvation, leaves you stranded with a cracked screen and no signal.

Abdulai:
People line up for them anyway.

G.I. Joe:
Of course they do. Hope is a powerful app. Even when it keeps crashing.

Abdulai:
Then what do we do? Wait for the next miracle?

G.I. Joe:
No. We wait for each other. Be patient. Help is already moving, just slower than the ads promised.

Abdulai:
You always talk like there’s a map.

G.I. Joe:
There is. We meet in Kenya. Kisaruni. Nelly’s school. High ground — not just geographically. Minds before markets. People before products.

Abdulai:
(smiles)
So not another phone?

G.I. Joe:
No. Something harder to break. Knowledge. Community. Maybe even forgiveness for the old gods — but no more blind worship.

Abdulai:
Then I’ll hold on. Even with a broken screen.

G.I. Joe:
That’s all you need. The signal’s still there. Just not on their network.

The Passion: Jesus and His Mother

Zechariah 12:10

And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.

Jesus and Mary, a bond divine, A love that transcends all space and time. Mary, the mother, pure and dear, Jesus, the son, our savior near. In a manger, they first did lay, A humble beginning, in Bethlehem that day. Shepherds and wise men came to see, The miracle of God’s own decree. Through trials and tribulations, they did endure, Their faith unwavering, steadfast and sure. Mary’s heart pierced with a mother’s grief, As Jesus hung on the cross, the ultimate relief. But death could not hold him, he rose anew, Conquering sin and death, for me and you. Mary’s love, a guiding light, Leading us to Christ, shining bright. So let us honor Jesus and Mary’s love, A bond so strong, from heaven above. May their grace and mercy, forever be, Our hope and salvation, for eternity.

What does 2 Peter 1:19 mean?

Too much PRIDE is HUBRIS. But, Pride is the only sin that is good in small amounts. I can only take the Fox network’s Lucifer TV show in small amounts.

The “transfiguration” was the moment witnessed by Peter, James, and John when Christ was revealed in His bright and shining glory (Luke 9:28–36). The voice of God from heaven declared that Jesus is His Son (2 Peter 1:16–18). The reality of that event confirms the Old Testament prophecies. Peter has the privilege of eyewitness testimony, of both that single event and all of Jesus’ other signs. This vindicates everything which had been written about the Messiah by the prophets of old.

Many of those prophesies were fulfilled with the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Other prophecies are yet to be fulfilled. We still live in a world of darkness. But those prophecies about Jesus, including the ones about His return as judge and king, are a lamp in our darkness. They encourage us, lead us, and educate us. But these lamps, those prophecies, will no longer be needed when the day comes, when Christ returns.

Peter describes Jesus as the morning star, a name also used of Him in Revelation 22:16. Jesus will bring lasting light to the world and also to our hearts.
